Hi, I’m Grace Anne!
I grew up in Dallas, TX, but I have always felt like my heart is in Colorado. After meeting my husband, we decided to move to CO together.
Watching our 4 young kiddos run wild in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains is a dream come true for us! I am thankful every day for this wild journey - to have the ability to be a mama and an artist, to hike and bike with the mountains as our background, to have breath in my lungs and to be here on this earth at this time and in this place - it is all such a gift!
With a mom who has had MS most of my life, I have been tempted at times to give up on my own dreams as I have watched her body slowly lose function. I have struggled with finding the words and ways to process through all the pain and overwhelm and keep going. I discovered painting and creating art as a helpful way to process through my grief.
Making art is messy and not pretty at first, but through persevering with it over time, something beautiful emerges and it is so worth the journey! Creating art is a powerful way to process and work through big feelings. The welcoming, open invitation to create something without rules and tap into the inner voice of my own creativity has been freeing and has grown my own voice and confidence through times when words have failed.
After getting my BFA in painting, I was able to teach art at 2 amazing classical Christian schools in Dallas. I taught everything from middle school ceramics to high school AP art & art history. Teaching art to kids is the most fun job on the planet! After taking time to have 4 sweet kids with my best friend and encourager, Leighton, I am back at it: teaching, making art and loving it more than ever.
I hope my art brings you joy and is a reminder that God sees you and will provide all you need if you trust him. He restores hope and joy into the broken parts if you let him.
I know and believe art is better in community. Some of my favorite pieces of art have been made with friends. Creating art together is a gift as stories are shared and hearts are open to listen, learn, and create, and so it is with much excitement to get to offer the gift of art classes with you and your loved ones here in Fort Collins, CO.
